If your resume and cover letter go to Apple Corporate in Cupertino CA and the formatted version of your resume goes to a recruiter (who invites you to the recruiting seminar), would it be possible for Apple Corporate to screen your resume and cover letter before the recruiter? Then (theoretically) the application would go to a store Hiring Manager who will then call you in for an interview.

To answer the thread title Yes.
If you are successful your resume will be passed through to the managers at the store/stores you applied for and you will be invited to an invitation only Recruitment Seminar, good luck. ;)

o_O so the managers also have the power to send you to a seminar?
I thought the managers would call for an interview.
Thanks =)

as far as i know it's only for retail positions. corporate positions are usually through campus recruiting that varies by university.
