I am getting a Samsung Galaxy S6 the 32GB storage option and should be arrived tomorrow or on Tuesday and it will be my 1st proper smartphone and I am looking forward to getting it! :D :D

But I have got some worries about the S6 that I have heard on the internet by users in the comments section on the forums and tech blogs like Android Authority, Android Central. and there reviews that have the S6 phone, I have heard the battery life is very terrible/bad(will only get about 1/2 hours of screen on time) and that I have to recharge the battery a least 3/4 times a day and that the S6 gets hot and sometimes overheats even during very simple tasks like web browsing, video watching, listening to music and during heavy demanding tasks like gaming and content creation tasks like editing photos and videos.

Those are my worries about the S6 but I have some questions regarding those worries and the 32GB storage and the device itself.

1. How is the battery life like on screen on time? Can you get a least 3 hours on screen time?

2. How hot does the Samsung Galaxy S6 gets during tasks like web browsing(on wifi, not 4G), video watching, listening to music and playing games like Temple Run, Doodle Jump and more graphic intensive games like Gangster Vegas, Unkilled, Asphalt 8?? Will the S6 won't overheat??

3. When I run out of 32GB of storage and have no space left, What are the best cloud options for getting more storage space or is there any SD card adapters?? so I can expand the storage on my S6 because for bizarre reason Samsung have sadly removed the SD card options on there Galaxy S6 phones.

4. For those people who have(and had) the S6, What do you think about the S6?? Great?? Terrible??

5. Should I gotten the new Samsung Galaxy S7 instead of the S6??

I really really hope that I have got a awesome phone that has not got terrible/bad battery life and gets hots during simple tasks like web browsing, video watching and listening to music!

Thanks in advance guys! :) :)

And if you are wondering "why did you not get the new and powerful Samsung Galaxy S7"??

Well I really wanted to get the new Samsung Galaxy S7 because it sounds like the perfect phone for me but sadly I can't really afford it(unless I get a job to pay for the S7 and keep it) so I have gone for the Galaxy S6 instead.

I have an S6 edge and it's annoyingly good, I need more bad reasons to come up so I can get a new phone lol!!

The battery isn't great, but I find Google Maps when driving is the main culprit, otherwise it's OK. You will need to charge it a lot though.

Tbh at this stage I would probably get an S7 if you can afford it. BUT the S6 is certainly still a very, very good phone. The camera is still insanely good and it is pretty much the perfect size, too.

As your first ever smartphone you have chosen a very solid device. Yes it has shortcomings, but these are only apparent if you have had a myriad other phones to compare it with. Taken on its own merits you have got yourself a very nice smartphone indeed ... instead of looking for any negatives, enjoy all the good stuff the S6 brings such as waterproof, great screen, great camera and snappy exynos processor performance.

Just enjoy it, many people would be been jealous to have such a good first ever smartphone ... :)

Oh and just to answer storage questions. Use Google photos to backup all your photos to the cloud and it's free, you can also use Google Music to store your music on the computer in the cloud and then you can access it on your phone without downloading unless you want to take it offline. Both free :)

I've bought an S6 in March of this year (just after S7 was released) and I've been very happy with it and don't intend to replace it yet. I like the build quality, size, and feel of the phone. I like the camera and I like that Samsung have regularly been providing security updates.

The battery life is not great. But I was aware of this when I bought it. And when I bought it, no 5" phone with flagship specs had battery life as good as I wanted (including the S7).

Although not great, the battery life has not been so bad that i have regretted buying the phone. At worst, I need to charge once during the day (on top of my overnight charge). This only affects me at the weekend. During workdays, I just pop the phone on a wireless charger when I'm at my desk.

It can get a bit hot. I don't play games on my phone and don't watch videos on it for long durations. So the only time I notice it heating up is when trying out VR. But its never got so hot that I've been worried about it. Although when I use the VR its only for 20-30 minutes max.

I considered getting the S7 before I bought the S6. But the improvement in battery life is not as great as I wanted for the extra money. Also, the S7 is not sold with 64GB internal storage where I live (only 32 GB is sold). I want 64 GB as a minimum in my phones from now on (regardless or whether or not they have an SD card slot) because I don't like having to manage SD card storage. My S6 has 64 GB storage. However, since its your first smartphone, I don't think you should worry about the storage too much. I used 32GB or less storage for many years.

I would say no. The S6 is what the S7 should've been. Awful RAM management, mediocre battery life at best, no SD slot, no water resistance, tons of lag, overheats frequently. If you were going for a cheaper device, the Axon 7, OnePlus 3, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, iPhone SE are among the good cheaper devices.

I found the S6 battery outperformed my 6S battery easily. But I am a very light user.

It's all dependent on price. If you get it for a good price, say 50% of the S7, then it's 80% as good as the S7.

It does lag, however. Again, as a light user I never noticed it too much. But it can be a little annoying as animations are inconsistent speed wise (had animations at 0.5x too).

My dad bought a used Galaxy S6 Edge several months ago and loved everything about it except the battery life. He gave it to my sister and she said the same thing.

So awesome phone, bad battery life. Just bring some battery packs with you.

If budget for the S7 is a concern, S6 is easily the next best option.

S6 design, build quality, camera and SoC are still top notch. I had the Verizon S6 and battery wasn't an issue but since the battery is roughly 2/3 the size of the Note you just have to be more conscious about what apps you're running that are polling or pushing data in the background. Non-Verizon radio version might have different or more battery drain. I typically got 5 hours of SOT with normal non-gaming use or about 5 days idle time. Gaming performance was excellent with nothing thrown at it slowing it down and while it did get warm like any other phone it didn't throttle while gaming and charging at the same time.

If you need more storage on the go you can always get something like the Sandisk micro USB OTG flash drive which plugs directly into the S6 micro USB port and seen as external storage.

Another great alternative is the Note 5 in 64GB when on sale.

MRU, the S6 is a great phone, but it's not waterproof! ;)

I just switched to an S6 about two months ago from an iPhone 6. Ive had Android before and haven't really enjoyed it. Decided for a change an honeslty really like the S6. Battery all depends on usgae and what settings you have turned on or off. This is my battery today from very light usage. Noticed cell standby drained a lot which is always a battery drainer.

Also always check for rogue apps. This morning the Google App was draining a ton of my battery and realized thats what was causing my huge battery drains before. So always keep an eye out. I think I've had about 1 hour of screen on time now. Its a very solid phone.

My ONLY gripe I had with the S6 (S6 edge in my case) was it would overheat too quickly while using the Gear VR. Everything else was flawless for me.

I still have my Galaxy S6 Edge+, and it was my first proper smartphone, unless you include the shockingly bad BlackBerry Z10, and it is very good, so far I'm not having any problems. I'm using it alongside an iPad Air 2, which I use as my main device unless I'm on the go, and it's a great combination. The S6 is close enough, and you'll be able to do most things that you can expect to do on a smartphone.

Enjoy your new phone.
