I read it is a few nits brighter (which I don't care about because I'm in a controlled environment so obviously I never have it near max brightness). Is it basically the same p3 as fall 2015 then?

I expect it is the same LCD as the LG UltraFine 5K Display and I think the main claim to fame for that one was it being a bit brighter.

correct me if I am wrong. I am a bit confused about the 500 nits brightness. People are saying it will only get full brightness via the ambient sensor. Setting the brightness control to MAX does not get you to 500 nits. What about the LG 5K and 4K Ultrafine, does those displays achieve full brightness via the manual setting?

I have the 4K LG Ultrafine and it is BRIGHT at full tilt.

One thing that's holding me back on 2017 iMac 5K is the screen bezel. The design looks a bit long in the tooth today.
