Is the so called "Batterygate" affecting just iPhone 4S, or iPhone 4 & 4S?

That's on my iPhone 4 and I can replicate it anytime. I don't use iCloud & WiFi Sync at all, my e-mail is checked every hour and all location services are ON except the Time Zone Setting. I can even say that on iOS 4.3.3 my battery performance was not as good as it is on iOS 5.0. I have to say that my iPhone is 6 months old. Could that all "Batterygate" thing exist because of not fully activated batteries on new iPhones 4S.

That screenshot was taken during a small vacation I took with my family, not too many calls were made, mainly web surfing and e-mails.

I think Batterygate is real this time, but only for the 4S. Personally, my battery life is much improved on my White 4 that I got in May on iOS 5 compared to iOS 4.x.x. I've used much more data over the past couple of months, too (got unlimited data back from AT&T). Overall, though, I think it's just the upgraded hardware in the 4S not keeping up with a non-upgraded battery.

With the explosive sales of iPhone 4S models, Batterygate is growing at an alarming rate.

Apple remains ineffective and unable to fix it. So for the second year in a row, defective iPhones sell unabated. Proving that the unsuspecting public will buy anything with an Apple logo.

I'm thinking that now with a new CEO focused more on the company and its products, instead of himself as was Jobs, progress will be made.

Perhaps the next new iPhone will be properly engineered, tested, and up to Apples normal quality.

What a nice surprise that would be.

My IP4 is fine battery-wise. Never had attenna problems but I almost never use it without a case. I wonder if this isn't some manufacturing issue as I got mine in Janaury of this year-about 6 months after it's launch in July 2010-and the later series were better. Maybe.

Apple is known for being very quiet and sneaky. It wouldn't surprise me if they made improvements in the antenna while remaining silent. However they did make a point to tell us the iPhone 4S has an improved antenna. A fact I can verify.

My iPhone 4S works as it should. My iP4 dropped calls or showed "no service". So in my case, having had every model of iPhone to date, Antennagate was very real & very bad. A super contrast to my Galaxy S on it's own line concurrently with the iP4. When the iPhone 4 was unable to connect I simply reached for my Galaxy on AT&T and enjoyed a good clear call.

There may be a good chance that Apple needs a refresher on how go get the basics right. After all I would think by now, battery problems are something Apple should be able to resolve.

Perhaps my expectations are too high.

This sucks! I just upgraded my 3GS to the latest and my battery life has been cut in half! Heck, it's worse than half! Is there a way to revert back?

I disagree. I have both the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 and both have OS 5.01 installed, and the battery life is dramatically worse on the 4S. No contest really. It's not the software - it's the hardware. There wil be no fix for this. It's liveable though - I just have to keep a charger with me.

I agree with you. My iPhone 4 seems to be dying a little faster than before. The 4S has a lower battery life to begin with so obviously my problems aren't as bad as most.

My iPhone 4S runs flawlessly and as advertised with 5.01. My wife's now has terrible battery life. It's usually dead by noon time without any usage whatsoever and charged to 100% the night before. It's an iOS 5 issue more than a hardware issue. They'll fix it. Apple "whatevergate" issues are more public because there are millions of more iPhones out there than any other model. Every product has defects and problems at launch. If not, there would be no such thing as a software update (except for new features but those usually happen on point updates).

Why do you keep buying Apple products and posting 17 times per day on an Apple forum about them?

Either you are blowing it out of proportion like everyone else or you enjoy wasting your money.
