I didn't bother to take the pictures. In the first case, just several small black dots on the case. In the second case, it is like a patch of paint got peeled off. I recall few weeks ago another forum member posted a photo showing the same problem. Can't find that post.
Do you mean those black dots could be dirt on top of the case's surface? When I went to the Apple Store, the guy asked me to show him. He saw them and had nothing to say. Then, processed the return.
Both I tried are Silver. Did not have such problems using other MacBook Pro over the past 20 years.
Yes.
And the store people rarely get involved in doing anything other than processing your no questions asked return in first 14 days.
But yes the dots I have found to be stuff settled on surface. For silver and space grey same process different color.
The cleanliness of the MBP's coming through now are like none I've ever experienced.
But all dots, marks etc came off with at times vigorous rubbing with nothing more than a good wet microfiber cloth. And I say vigorous because I've never been anything but gentle in my cleaning in the past.
While some very well could be contamination I have yet to receive one like that.
But these finish's have come through at times with spots all over the outer surfaces.
I haven't gotten any I recall on inside.
The screen was only surface that has come through pristine on all I have dealt with.
Directly related to Covid and supply chain issues it all has played a role in this. As IMO stuff was accepted that normally wouldn't be.
The over all yields I'm sure are down so certain powers that be send stuff thru that wouldn't have otherwise.
As I said before I had one pulled from production and arrived to me 2 weeks later from an email to Tim Cook with pictures of my issue, worded respectfully and backed up with receipts of an Apple centric family. The kind of customer they target and cultivate.
And it was the worse of the 2 replacement tries.
It was a 16/32/ Max chip 16" with 2 tb ssd and 64 gb ram my original one took 9 weeks to arrive.
