Is the T-Mobile hack unneccesary?

I finally updated my early-generation phone from 2.0 to 2.1 last night. No issues at all, but I noticed that after I had re-downloaded all my software with Cydia that my T-Zones were working, even though I DIDN'T download and reload the T-Zones hack again. Has anybody experienced this. Is the hack unneccesary now?

I noticed that it works for a while, then you get constant "$CODE$" I eventually had to re-install it back on. It might have just been me, though. Not too sure.

I had the same issue. I'm going to uninstall and re-install tonight.
