Is the wallpaper resetting bug still present in Monterey?

I'm still on Big Sur 11.6 on my M1 Mac Mini and the annoying wallpaper bug is still persistent. Is it still present in Monterey?

For those not aware, if I change my desktop wallpaper, it will reset to a default Apple one if I shutdown and then start up again and each time I have to change it manually. It never stays with my new wallpaper. Seems to be a common thing.

If the bug is still there, does anyone know of a fix/workaround yet?

That must be an M1 bug because I have never seen that on my 2018 Mini running Big Sur. When I select a wallpaper it stays that way until I change it again.

I've seen a few posts on the forum about it and google search results suggests it's happened to others. Thanks for the link.

That must be an M1 bug because I have never seen that on my 2018 Mini running Big Sur. When I select a wallpaper it stays that way until I change it again.

This happens to me once in yesterday.

Long ago I had some very similar happen on my Mac Pro. My fix at the time was to 1) change my wall paper, and then 2) invoke Mission Control, 3) create a new space, and 4) delete the old one.

Try that out and see if you wallpaper changes on next reboot like mine used to do.

I used to have that problem quite often with Big Sur but haven't experienced it in at all since Monterey.

I experienced it when I ran the last update for Monterey. I’m running a MacBook Air M1. I’m not surprised it is still around as Apple sucks at squashing bugs.

guess we're lucky then that this is not a bug, just an issue a few people are reporting. 🤔

where is your wallpaper image stored? if it's not in the pictures folder, or the photos app, try moving it to one of those places.

my wallpapers are stored in the Pictures folder, in a folder i named 'desktop pics', which i added to the 'Folders' in system preferences>desktop & screensaver, and i've never had this issue, in any version of mac OS.
