Finally I have arrived.....
I would like to get some opinions on stock MBP C2D (2.16/128 MB GPU/120 GB HD model vs. 2.33/256 MB GPU/120 GB HD. I think 128 MB GPU cannot drive 30" ACD. Is there some who bought either stock model and felt he/she chose the wrong one over the other?

Edit: I am referring only to 15" MBP C2D model.

i ordered base with 160gb hdd option. the 128 can run a 30" no problem. if you're that big into gaming, get the base and spend the extra money on ram, hdd and/or case. cheers

I am heading out to Paramus NJ store to check up on 15" MBP. Even though I want a 160 GB HD option, I am a little weary about BTO because of the difficulty of product exchange at the store if there is something wrong with the new machine.

I did not 128 MB GPU is able to run a 30" ACD. Apple web site brags about 256 MB GPU only and I assumed 256 is the option you need to use a 30" ACD. Good to know 126 is good enough for a 30" ACD.

Finally I have arrived.....
I just stopped at Paramus NJ store and I just bought C2D 15" MBP with 256MB GPU. I checked the store display and I noticed there is basically no lag when I started Office 2004. The previous Core Duo MBP showed 30 to 40 seconds delay before starting; but, this C2D just starts up as quick as my PB G4.
I cannot wait to get home to open this baby.

I fully expect pictures!
I am back home. I am now opening this up and taking some pixs. I will put up the pixs soon. It seems like I can use one of my unused iSkin I bought for my PBs. So far, no dead pixel to report. I am doing the clean install to get rid of some junks (foreign languages I don't use and some trial softwares).

I bought the low-end C2D MBP (2.16GHz obviously), and spent a little of the difference upgrading to the 160GB hard disk and adding 1GB of RAM. I'm quite pleased with it, speaking based on the 1 day I've had it. :D

Past experience (at least on the PC side) has indicated that a processor speed bump does not make much of a difference; while RAM almost always leads to an obvious performance boost. Not to mention that, for most of what normal people do, computer processors in general (even G4s) provide more horsepower than needed. But I still went ahead and replaced my G4 with this C2D.

Now, I have 2 AL PBs, 1 Ti PB, iBook, and this C2D MBP. I cannot let go any one of them at this time. After completing the clean install, I will install Office 2004, CS2, MX2004, iWork 06, and Aperture. I hope 120 GB is good enough; so far, I have been using lots of external HDs for data storage. So, even my 40GB iBook is able to handle my daily Word/Excel/CS2 works. My policy is any new laptop has to be better than the ones I currently have. So far, this model has met that criteria in almost all fronts.
So some reasons, I like the new Mac smell. I hope someone can make a perfume out of it.

YAY! Can't wait for the pics :) I love seeing new computers... even if they do look like the older MBPs haha ;)

EDIT: Just saw your pics in the pictures thread. NICE!
