I am quite happy with my first generation iPad Pro 9.7 inch however I can get a $170 trade in for it at Apple for the 7th generation iPad. Is there a big difference in them?

To get an accurate idea of speed, I would just go to an Apple Store, Best Buy, Microcenter, etc., to view them with your iPad.

I was there earlier and omg what a madhouse. We waited 2hours for my friend to get his watch looked at. I was kinda playing with the new 10.2 iPad but didn’t have mine with to compare. My pro has basically replaced my laptop so... idk.

No, not really much different although I expect the RAM would be helpful for multitasking.

Besides, not worth trading in at Apple considering they almost never discount items. Better to trade in at Best Buy so you can combine the gift card from the trade in with their occasional $100 off sales.

I thought the trade in was subtracted instantly if you bought it in the Apple store?

Apple yes.

What I'm pointing out is this:

On Apple
$330 32GB Wi-Fi / $430 128GB Wi-Fi
-$170 Apple Trade In iPP 9.7
$160 / $260 Net Price

On Best Buy
$250 32GB Wi-Fi / $330 128GB Wi-Fi
-$145 Best Buy Trade In iPP 9.7
$105 / $185 Net Price

I love my 9.7 inch pro, it’s just I would rather buy another new toy even though I don’t need it, instead of using money to pay bills or save money, just like I try to blow off my job as much as I can. That drives my boyfriend nuts, but I do not want to do what a responsible adult does, fun and pleasure is more important than anything else.

As others have said, the A10 offers only marginal speed benefits over the A9X in the iPad you already have. And even that is not clear cut. The A10 is slightly faster in CPU processing but the A9X actually has better graphics performance because of the extra graphics cores. So you’re not even guaranteed to see a boost over the iPad you already have. It will depend on how you are using it.

If all you are looking for is “shiny new”, I guess a new 7th gen iPad would qualify. But, you may be disappointed with it once the new toy feeling wears off. Yes the 7th gen iPad does offer a slightly bigger screen. But the screen quality is not as good as the iPad you have now. It’s not laminated and doesn’t have an anti reflective coating, so screen glare is much worse. It also can’t display as many colors as the 9.7” Pro. The speakers are another noticeable downgrade from the Pro’s quad speakers. The 7th gen iPad is also a bit heavier and has a worse camera with no flash.

I honestly just don’t see how it would be worth any money to go from the 9.7” Pro to the 7th gen iPad. It’s a downgrade in most respects. You’re better off going for the 10.5” Air (or a 10.5” Pro if you can find one online somewhere). An Air would be more money. But at least it would be a tangible upgrade over what you have now.

I found a second generation iPad Pro 12.9 128gb with cellular on Chicago craigslist, was looking at ads while I was supposed to be working and got it tonight. It has the Smart Keyboard too and got it for $290.00. I think I got an awesome deal. He wanted $330.00 for it.

Assuming it is not iCloud locked and doesn't get blacklisted, that's a very good deal.

That, not the iPad 7, is the proper upgrade from your 9.7" Pro IMO, if the size is good for you.
