I mean I can do it through ssh but is there an app that I can just go in and select what wallpaper I want and keep my theme. Like the official background app that changes the lockscreen wallpaper but for the springboard.

I think you are best using winterboard. just download a theme and use ssh to delete everything you dont want and replace that wallpaper with one of yours.
And remember you cant have a springboard wallpaper without winterboard.

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that. Seems like overkill but it's actually a pretty simple solution. I can also put it higher than the theme in winterboard to make sure it takes effect.

Thanks!

In winterboard there is already a setting for user wallpaper, select this then going to settings and change your wallpaper.

Make sure this setting is set higher in winterboard than any theme you are using.

hope this helps.

I was just going to say this, too, but doesn't this always make your lock screen background and springboard background the same if your theme doesn't change your lock screen? Usually not an issue, but it would be nice if the User Wallpaper had a way to select a specific background (other than the default wallpaper set in iPhone settings).

Exactly. This is a quick easy solution if you don't mind your springboard and lockscreen having the same wallpaper.

Bosspaper is what you want if you're just looking to change the background while steering clear of Winterboard.

There is also an app called Desktop/SMS Background which does what it's called and changes the wallpaper and sms background.

Anyone know if you can change the springboard image without using winterboard?

get openssh and an sftp client. username is root and password is alpine, by default. go to the "/" directory. then click var, then stash, then themes, make your own file called background. then get a picture in png format that u want to use as your wallpaper behind the icons. before putting it in the background folder, name it "Wallpaper.png" exactly as i spelled it. now you can close the sftp client and open winterboard. select background. and then hit the home button. =D

oh btw you have to use winterboard sorry. but this is a fun way to do it, i like it this way. also the picture has to be 320x480.
