I'm looking for an app that I can have folders/albums in, where I can manage on my computer, and put say 30 photos from a vehicle or trip or project or whatever from my computer, arrange them in a folder or album and that app syncs with my iPhone, so I can flip through them for reference now and again on my phone, sort of how you would do with files on DropBox, but I want to be able to flip through the photos, which as far as I know you can't do.

Maybe there's a feature with Evernote, DropBox, or iCloud that I can do this with that I don't know about- if there is, please let me know. But to be clear, I don't want to do this with my Photos app in iCloud, I want this to be separate from Photos, and I don't want to use Google.

I have paid storage in iCloud and currently use iCloud drive, but it keeps photos in folders- I can open them up on my iPhone, but I can't flip through them one to the next like an album.... I can only open, look, close, open the next, etc... this is my main problem with just using a folder in iCloud.

If there is something I should be doing differently so I can have an album-like folder of photos on my iPhone, let me know- I'm happy to pay for apps or storage or whatever, and I realize it's also possible I'm not using an available function on something to be able to do this. Thanks!

The default Photos app does that easily.

Edit - apologies, just read again that you want it to be separate from the photos app.

I think any cloud storage will let you create folders easily. So Amazon prime or Dropbox etc should work.

I have to say I'm quite confused understanding what it is you want. You're looking for an app "that can have folders" yet iCloud Drive won't work because "it keeps photos in folders".

You appear to know Dropbox. Dropbox can take folders, full of photos and you can flip through them. Perhaps "which as far as I know you can't do." is the issue. Yes it can. At least it can on my SE and mini 4.

So you want a media server effectively. Are you intending to use the app at home only or out and about also?

My Synology NAS has an app called PhotoStation, it allows you to publish images to it and it serves them allowing albums etc. also allows you to control access. You can make it accessible to the public internet also.

Any chance you have a NAS with that functionality?

Google Drive. Like others' suggestion of using Dropbox, however, Drive ties into Google Photos, which does albums, sharing, etc. So can flip through pics via Google Drive app or the Google Photos app. Google Photos website as well to modify/edit with.

In the second paragraph of the OP, they say they don't want to use Google either. I don't get this one at all. The logical choices are Google or Photos, but they refuse those two perfectly workable options for some reason. Maybe because they are already using them for other things. If that's the case, just create another account for Google.

Yeah, totally missed the Google is a no-go.

iTunes does photo sync from folders, but is not particularly good on organizing (need to create albums on iPhone to organize after transfer).

For pay apps out there. For example, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photosync-transfer-photos/id415850124

Other file storage/transfer over wifi apps. And for apps that support, File Sharing option under device in iTunes (drag/drop files to sync).

Dropbox does this, not sure what you're unhappy with. OneDrive as well. I imagine most of the cloud sync apps to have similar functionality. These, alongside Google Drive, are arguable the most popular ones.

Have you considered Flickr?

I am not sure why you have to separate these images from Apple photos entirely. Would using a hidden album solve all this? Then it wouldn't show on things like home sharing, but you could still access it anywhere.
