Is there a Gif Player for OS X Yosemite?

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5 on a 21.5" iMac and need to install a Gif player. Can anyone suggest where I can download such software, please?

The built in "Preview" application can play animated gif files.

I found a method of playing GIFs on Mac at <https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5022263?start=0&tstart=0>

Select (don't open) the gif you want to play and press Command Y. Voila!
