Is there a limit on the size of my HD on my MB?

I have a Black MB, 1 GB of RAM, and a 100 GB HD.

I was wondering if there was any limit on the size of the SATA HD. Is there a size or memmory limit.

I'm not sure I understand you. Do you mean is there a limit on how much you can dump onto the hard-drive and still keep everything running smoothly?

If so, most people would probably say to keep anywhere between 12-6gb free.

I normally say 6-8 GBs free to keep OS X happy that includes any drives that boot/run OS X from I.E. running OS from external drive

Currently the largest 2.5" 9.5mm SATA hard drive is 120GB. There are 160GB hard drives but they are PATA. There is a 200GB hard drive but it's 12.5mm high and won't fit in the MacBook's hard drive slot.

PATA = Parallel ATA
SATA = Serial ATA

Hitachi makes a 160 SATA drive that fits.

Ahh. I see. This is why I was so confused.

They went back and changed the terminology when the new technology came out.

Kinda like calling chips CISC after the first RISC chips came out.

Ah cool, wasn't aware it had been released yet. Be nice to see some in the next MBPs.

Hopefully when i buy my next machine there will be 300GB HDDs for laptops. Considering that 3.5" HDDs have hit 750GB I would expect nothing less - won't be buying till about 2008, we could be looking at 1.5TB 3.5" HDDs by then, who knows??
