In my head.
Hi,

I have herd that although there is 100 UDID I can add to my developer account in order to test my app/s on them, there is a limitation to the SIM cards that can be used with this devices. Apparently the limit is 5 SIM cards.

The way I understand this is, although there is 100 devices you can add..you arre still mimited to 5 SIM cards that can be used with these 100 devices.

Is it true ? Any one have any experience in this matter ? Please advice.

Thanks!

I don't know where you heard the SIM card stuff, but the SIM card plays no role in app testing (except adding connection to the data network when WiFi isn't available.) You are limited to 100 devices to test on.

Can I remove some of the devices afterwards? I plan on beta testing with about 50 devices and then I would like to remove them afterwards. Also if I remove a device, can that person still continue to use the app?

That person will be able to use the app as long as they have the provisioning profile and the app bundle. Removing the 50 devices does not all you to provision 50 more devices though. It used to be like that, until someone who had their app rejected started to sell adhoc builds. Now you can only put your projects on 100 different devices ever. (At least last I heard thats how Apple is still doing it.)

Okay, thanks for the info then! How do they expect us to beta test if we can only have 100 devices total ever?!

No.

Some developers were abusing the system, so this capability was permanently removed. You have a hundred total (per year). If you max out your total, and lose your iPhone, you're out of luck provisioning any new replacement on your dev account.

sell your beta

There might be another method for beta testing an app, if you can get the app accepted into the App store (don't label it as a beta!).

Just have a really ugly icon on the beta app, set the availability date to some special day in the future, change the description so it's really bad, and raise the price to something ridiculous (e.g. $399.00), so that no real customer is likely to buy it.

But give out free promotional codes to your beta test community with instructions to download on that special day. After the beta download period, set the app as unavailable again (or available in the far future).

Repeat as necessary every month, when more promotional codes become available.

When your app is ready for public sale, re-submit it with the proper icon, and set the price and description to something reasonable.

ymmv.
