I need to flash an experimental modified boot rom to my 3,1, but I don't want to brick it.

I remember reading in a thread around here somewhere, that there was some kind of card for the Mac Pro that basically gave you a second boot rom.

Does anyone know if the product exists for the 3,1?

Not sure. The first step is searching the 3,1 logic board for the spi connector to identify what can be plugged in.

By the way.. The cost of a Matt card is probably more than a 3,1 logic board.

MP31 uses a FirmwareHUB TSOP42 flash memory, not a SPI-Flash. It's parallel and I never saw anything like that for 3,1 ones.
