I’ve purchased various phones in the past from many different brands and I’ve always noticed the Asian brands (Huawei, One Plus, etc) ALL include screen protectors and a soft case inside the box with their phones. Why doesn’t Apple do this with their phones? People certainly pay enough, I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to include them. And it would also look classy on Apple’s part in doing that. You buy the phone and comes with everything you need.

My iPhones have always come with everything I need… never used a screen protector ever and will never put one on a touch screen

Cost, waste. Not everyone wants or needs one. Plenty of 3rd party options for this. I used to use one. But then the gorilla glass has improved to the point that I rarely scratch it. I do however use a case for the body of the phone. Because occasionally I"m butterfingers and drop it.

Apple would rather you experience the screen in its original form and be a repeat customer. They also prefer to collect $499 for out of warranty service or $249 for AppleCare+.
