Is there a shortage of 160GB 7200RPM SATA drives?

I would max out a 17" MBP with HD screen NOW if I didn't have to wait 4-6 weeks for that hard drive. Can I just save $100 and get the previous 100GB 7200 RPM Drive?

I have a 1TB external drive. Size isn't the issue, speed is.

You heard wrong. People without 7200rpm drives just like to say that.


And yes, there is a shortage of the Seagate 7200.2 160GB drive. I managed to find it at Computer Giants and it was back-ordered for a bit. It ended up shipping today, so hopefully I'll have one soon :]
