Messages on the Mac allows for creating additional accounts. That said, I've the closest thing I've heard to what you're asking for is Project Amy

I meant to say regular texting like from at&t or google voice not yahoo messenger or services like that

It should by possible with Jabber to SMS transport used in iMessages.app - I've no idea if there's some SMS transport in US / UK .. - Transport must be setup in adium or Psi as iMessages.app doesn't support XMPP/Jabber server discovery
