Is there any Mac feature or App for purchase that can make my iMac in my office be exactly the same as my iMac in my kitchen? So I can have 3 tabs open, 10 pages of Apple Pages open, playing an iTunes song, tap pause on the music, drive a quick drive home and on my home Mac it be the same, and I can just push the play button on the music and pick up where I left off?

What if I have a home office, and would run an ethernet cable from one iMac to the other one that's just 100ft away?

Any method, app, or other solution I'd be VERY interested in, regardless of the cost.

Thanks!

I don't think it is possible to sync to that degree, but if all your data is in iCloud/Dropbox etc then it should be identical on both, but I don't think you will ever get third party apps synchronised. Apple App Store apps can be set to automatically install on other devices but not third party ones. Will be interested in answers you get.

Why not just move a MacBook back and forth and connect it to a display/keyboard/mouse? That would be the closest thing to what you want.

If you want literal 100% mirroring, such solution does not exist.

The simplest alternative is to use Remote Desktop. macOS already built-in screen-sharing ability, you can easily google how to set this up, no need of 3rd party apps. Say you have the office Mac act as the "main Mac", the the kitchen iMac just remotes into the office Mac full screen. With a LAN cable connection it won't have noticeable lag until you play back videos or do a lot of clicking.

I’m not aware of any syncing solution to the level you describe (e.g. literally continuing music playback, etc)

I do use iCloud sync for tabs, documents, & desktop among my 3 Macs. I also have set up symbolic links for preferences folders on a few apps, so that they also remain in sync. But if I install/update an app, that has to be done on each - if I change something on the dock, it has to be repeated also.

Would I like it to be completely automatic? Sure. But I’m loathe to rely on 3rd party tools for such deep integration so I’m happy with what I have, unless/until an Apple solution is available.

Wow, Google Chrome is the one main thing I was hoping to sync... so I could go through open tabs from another computer was the thinking... Opening 10 tabs on a subject, then from another computer in the kitchen, going through them while waiting for water to boil and so on.
