Is There a Way to Get My Old G4 to Be a Music Server?

I've tried upgrading my old G4 to a version of iTunes where I would be able to share music or use the Airport to play music. It seems like my hardware is not able to support a new enough version of iTunes to do this.

Is there something I can do (that is not too complicated) to use the G4 with an External drive to play music?

Which exact model G4 do you have?

If it turns out there's really no way of installing a version of iTunes that allows sharing, you could share the music folder on the G4 so that your other Macs can see it and just select it as your library folder there.
The downside of that would be that your computers wouldn't be able to share track rating, playlists etc.

The iTunes 10.3.1 support page states that you must have at least a 1.0GHz G4 to play standard definition video, and lists the G4 as being supported, but it is the oldest that is supported. I would assume that it isn't iTunes problem. My guess is that there is a network issue that isn't letting you do it.
