Is there a way to make the music app in iOS 9 like the music app in iOS 6?

I am an iPhone 5 user that has stayed with iOS 6 for years, for various reasons, but a big one being the music app. I simply have been horrified at the interface when I have used the music app on devices with iOS 7/8/9, but I feel I need to update for more compatibility with new apps.
Is there anything I can do if I update to make it run more like the iOS 6 music app or is there an app that can make the music app look like iOS 6?

I should point out, my phone is NOT jailbroken.

The simple answer is no. You may want to look into alternative music players like Vox.

Also have a look at Marvis Music Player, it's what I use.

There are some apps that access the Apple Music library on your device. Cesium is another app that does that.

I've been pretty happy with Ecoute.

The good news with all of these players is they're basically remote controls. If I start a song in Ecoute I could then go into Apple's app and pause the song there. Or any of the other 3rd party apps. They're all just controlling the same OS-playback function.

Wow, I had no idea it could sell for anywhere near that. I'll definitely keep it on iOS 6.1.4. I guess it also helps that it is white, factory unlocked, still in near perfect condition and 64gb. I may test the waters on ebay in the near future.

Considering all the further butchering of the music app since Apple Music (not a subscriber), I am probably going to seek out an 8.3 iPhone, that way I can still avoid iTunes 12.

Yeah, but only if you have SHSH blobs saved I think. I think that's important to note if you sell the iPhone 5. I mentioned I had SHSH blobs saved so the user could always go back to iOS6 if they accidentally updated the phone.

No, OdysseusOTA require the OTA firmware of 6.1.4 to be signed by Apple. iPhone 4s has 6.1.3 signed because updating from iOS 5.0.x requires 6.1.3 as an intermediate step.

iPhone 5 was never compatible with iOS 5.0.x, hence Apple never had the need to sign it.

The music app in iOS 7-8.3 function-wise was similar except for the collapsed album list under the artist view. The iOS 6 music app was much more aesthetically pleasing: no overuse of white space, CoverFlow in landscape, actual buttons for shuffle/repeat, no oversized artist and album thumbnails in the list view wasting screen space.

That being said, I would take the iOS 7-8.3 music app over the current version any day. But the iOS 6 music app will remain superior.

They made a lot of actions require multiple steps.

Want to find something? Want to like this song and add it? Want to do this? etc.

You got to tap, tap, tap, and tap. Everything is hidden, things get lost, 3/5 tabs are pretty much useless.

Use to be, press this and done.

I miss iOS 6's Music app so much. The closest on the market is Cesium, though the volume control is a frustratingly absurd circle design instead of a proper slider. That thing is so clunky it keeps me from using the app. But you may like the resemblance to the 6 music app enough.

I bought cesium, it's not very refined, has quirks, UI issues etc. Thing is Apple has had 10+ years to refine the music experience, they started with the iPod, and evolved into the iPhone. We are expected to switch to some 3rd party solution now? It doesn't make sense.

I really wish Apple would wake up and get their act together with this.

I use Cesium myself and love it. The only thing I am not too keen on is like RobbyIdol stated the now playing screen. It would be much better with a slider like Music.app. I persuaded my son to buy Cs but he no longer uses it because he doesn't like the circular progress bar.

LeechTunes although it costs, does offer a landscape artwork mode although it overlays it with the original square art - it uses gestures instead of buttons to work, I use it in the car and it works really well. CarMusic is a nice free alternative but hasn't been updated in years.

Good news is I am very close to submitting v3.4 which includes significant improvements to search. After a short indexing period on launch (length varies due to library size) search results should appear within a second.

I'm also implementing Twitter's Crashlytics framework which should provide more insight into crashes. Currently based on Apple's analytics Cs crashes have reduced significantly in the last few versions (98-99% crash-free sessions), but I think most crashes are experienced frequently by a small number of users. I'd love to get more information so I can solve it!

Don't know what you'd want me to give you. When I search, the UI goes haywire and is very close to the top edge of the screen.

Sometimes nothing works and just crashes when trying to play something. It just "hangs" I suppose. I have to manually do the double home button pump, and close the app myself, then it works again.
