At the moment i lock my entire phone with a pin code but i hate that.

So is there a way just to protect my emails??? its @me.com

Not that I am aware of. The only solution I know is to lock the entire phone.

I, too, would like to see app-specific passwords. I don't mind passing my phone around at a party to share a YouTube video or funny web site, but you have to keep a close eye on people to make sure they don't go messing around with things they shouldn't be.

That's a problem with most modern cell phones. You can't lend someone your phone to anyone without potentially giving them access to lots of personal data. (Call history, browser history, SMS messages, contact list, email, etc.)

You'd think that enough congressmen have been burnt by the wife finding their hookers number on their favorites list, that some law would have been passed requiring more device privacy options.

Very true!

There are some protection programs for other platforms that are designed around password security, but they are usually databases or lists of passwords/account balances etc.

You can password protect just about anything on the desktop, so I can't imagine the handheld is that different.

Wow.

I guess no one has heard of the jailbroken application called Lockdown? It enables you to put a passcode lock on any application you want, which is exactly what you want to do.

I lock a lot of my apps, and it works great.

That's not really helpful to those who don't want to jailbreak their iPhone.

Unless you are having an affair or talking about him to your friends, why would it matter if he read your emails?

Is Hubby, your husband? or what?

I believe so. My wife frequents a message board for Mom's where "DH" (dear husband) is the shorthand.

Other corners of the internet are strange, strange places.

Me, I don't care. My e-mail and my wife's combine into 1 inbox, even. But others do care and I can totally understand that. Some privacy is essential. Some get it by e-mail, others in other ways. But there has to be at least a few small barriers.
