I can’t describe how annoying it is to try to listen to music on my iPad Pro while trying to surf the net. Damn near every website these days has videos that Safari insists on playing resulting in muting my music to start playing the video(s). Is there a way to block this at all?

Say hello to HTML5 Auto-Video-Playback. It is an advertising feature. It does not intend to annoy you...

If you switch to the iCab browser for iOS you will get much more control over your browsing experience. Under the gear menu (Settings) > Web Sites controls of iCab you will find a setting: "Page can autoplay videos," which you can turn off. If you want to stick with Safari you might get some relief from an adblocker; I've been pretty happy with 1BlockerX.

I’m going to bump this because now I am experiencing this in google searches. When trying to listen to a podcast I’ll be searching the web and even though the videos sound doesn’t play the video still “plays” and then cuts off my podcast. What always get me is when I am searching a show on google and the Netflix preview video starts running the video.

maybe someone knows of a fix?? I’m using safari and then doing google searches and auto play in chrome is turned off.

I don’t remember this happening before I got my iPhone 13.
