When using dual monitors with macOS, is there a shortcut or third party tool to quickly switch what's shown on each screen?

Its a recording studio situation where one monitor is at the desk and one off to the side. I know I can manually move windows around, but I'm looking to see if there's a quicker way to sort of automate it.

I'm not sure what you're alluding to - maybe moving a Window from one display to another display? I often use 2-3 displays, generally one of them is in portrait mode and the second and rMBP are in landscape mode, and I'll "send" a Window from one display to another. I never have to take my fingers off the keyboard…

The two apps I use are the shareware Spectacle app and the MAS Magnet app. I bought Magnet for the $1 deal, but it's not quite as configurable as Spectacle.

Thanks. Basically, I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut to take whatever I'm looking at on monitor 1, and move it to monitor 2. It would also be ideal to take what is on 2 and move it to 1 at the same time.

Perhaps you're looking for this? Not as quick as a key-shortcut, but nevertheless convenient!

Those two apps I mentioned facilitate just that, but one Window at a time - I can't work productively without a utility like these. Both allow for those shortcuts to be changed as well. Cheers.

Thanks everyone.

I've found a pretty quick solution that works for me. Not perfect, but solves the basic need for me to get the window that's on Monitor quickly to monitor 2. I just use the mirroring shortcut. Command + F1. I hit the shortcut, and it obviously mirrors it so I can now see my Pro Tools edit window on monitor 2.

I'm essentially never changing what's on my main monitor, monitor 1, and just toggling what displays on monitor 2. Normally, it's the Pro Tools mixer. But when I need to see the Pro Tools edit window on monitor 2, I'm basically not really looking at monitor 1 all that much anyway.

Pretty simple solution that seems so obvious to me now. I'll check into those other utilities though to see if it better does what I want.... (switching windows between monitors).
