That won't work. You can't replace or modify any files in /System without rendering the machine unbootable.

Is that due to some change in macOS, since we used to be able to do that?

EDIT: Regardless, I looked in that path and there isn't a "Battery.menu" file anyways. So if there's a way to do it, it's not at that path.

Yes. Apple is making macOS more secure. Monterey system files reside on a separate volume than user data and that volume is read-only and sealed with a cryptographic signature. Any modification from what Apple installs renders the machine unbootable.
