Is there a way to speed up DVD rips?

I'm currently ripping a number of TV shows and movies to my iTunes library so I can watch them via ATV. I'm just using Handbrake to rip them direct from DVD, but they're taking their time to do.

I understand that its a time-consuming process, but I was wondering if there's any way to speed things up noticeably? I'd heard about the Elgato Turbo.264 product, but can't seem to find any concrete info as to whether its suitable for direct ripping.

Any ideas?

Get yourself an 8 core processor, it'll rip through them in about 25 minutes!

I don't think the Elgato Turbo.264 will speed things up unless you have an older type mac.

Use Mac The Ripper to rip the DVDs. Just ripping them is a lot, lot faster than compressing them with Handbrake. Then queue everything up for conversion in Handbrake. At that point, it doesn't matter how long the conversion takes. It will work just fine overnight, because you don't have to be there to put in more DVDs.
