Is there a way to turn off the iPhones internet access through EDGE?

okay so basically, i want an iPhone, but my current plan charges me to use the internet and send text messages.

I want to know if i can set an iPhone to NEVER connect to the internet unless its using the wifi?

(so basically it would act as an ipod touch, that can receive calls lol.. meaning if i am not on a wifi network i dont want it to accidentally connect, or have to worry about leaving the hotspot and have it switch to EDGE on me and charge me for it)

Yes, this can be done with a bunch of apps once you have jailbroken your iPhone. I prefer BossPrefs to do this, as well as manage some other settings.

And this is cut EDGE off from the internet completely, so i wont get charged for internet access... hrmm... that sounds good.

or just remove your EDGE settings completely under Settings->General->Network->EDGE
if you don't want to jailbreak.
