I am currently in Italy with my girlfriend and her laptop (MBP). I have a v. 1.1.1 iPhone which I would love to update to the new 2.0 software, but I am not sure what would happen if I tried to update my phone using her computer. Will my address book and email accounts be overwritten by hers automatically or is there a way to avoid it?

Would making my own user account allow me to do what I want? Also, what will happen when I get home to my own computer?

Lastly will I be able to activate the phone even though I am not on ATT's network because I'm in Italy?

Thanks for the help,

Max

Not too sure about the first part of your question but updating to 2.0 is done over the data network (or WIFI which is preferable and cheaper).

Thanks for the help but I don't think that's right. The computer definitely needs to be present to update to the 2.0 software. The phone must be backed up before proceeding with the update.
