Is there an app I can download that close or shuts down other apps I forget to.. I know on the Droid they have one and it's called advanced task manager,,,
No - Apple wouldn't let that.
Yup.
It would be nice if Apple added a feature that could close all apps. I sometimes forget to do it, and at the end of the day I have to tap the "X" on 20 apps, just to shut them down. It would rock if a "Close All" option appearing. perhaps we will see it in a future update. Might not be until iOS 5 or something.
Closing your apps is generally not necessary - the OS will do it for you if it needs the memory.
Yup.

none of those apps are actually running
if they support state saving, their last state is saved in memory, but aside from that, all that bar is is a most recently launched apps bar
I manage to close 4 apps at a time from the taskbar.I have to tap the "X" on 20 apps

Thanks! Never even thought of that!I manage to close 4 apps at a time from the taskbar.
YMMV, depending what size fingers you have!
No need to be rude. And it isn't unnecessary; I find it very convenient being able to listen to my radio app in the background, rather than the default music player. You idiots screamed for multitasking for years. Here's your damned multitasking. Told you it was unnecessary.

Agreed. Probably half of my apps don't even support multitasking, so they're just there as recent app shortcuts. However, I do have the few that do multitask (and I mean audio streaming & navigation). No one (figuratively) seems to understand that multitasking is not used very often.
Yup.

why would you close your apps. They are just saved states which are not using battery. If you had a navagation symbol or music symbol at the top of your screen when on the home screen that they would be running in the background. Not having to close apps is one of the pros of the iphone multitasking.
True! Very few of my apps will slow me down when they are in the background. It's more of a neat-freak thing for me. I only like to have certain apps in the multitask dock.
Maybe a future option that allowed us to specify which apps quit after being closed, and which stay 'running'.
I know. See my above post. It's more of a neat-freak thing for me. However, some of my apps do run in the background lol. I use MotionX GPS, TuneIn Radio, etc. Both of those can run down battery life, especially when used at the same time. I try to close those ones when I'm not using them, as they do slow me down.
