Is there an upcoming OFFLINE encyclopedia for the iPod touch?

My grandfather is looking at an iPod touch to replace his aging PDA. One of the most often used features he uses is an encyclopedia to look up stuff he doesn't know about. He will not be near wi-fi often so that is not an option. Is anyone making an offline app that is an encylcopedia such as Britannica or Wikipedia?

I wouldn't mind seeing this probably minus pictures to cut down the size. But look at the amount of info that is in the baseball app.

If you felt like not upgrading and jailbreaking, that may be a solution.

Also, wedict. It is a multiple dictionary app that takes Stardict dictionaries/encyclopedias. I use both this and Wikipedia.
