Comcast just called me to say they are bumping my bill from 80 bucks a month to 170 because my promo rate expired. I really only watch HBO and don't want to miss out on new Eps of True Blood.
there is the 3rd option to just download it off bittorrent tho bad really they aren't leaving me with much a choice. How can they charge $170 for Cable and internet. These industries need better regulation.
I agree, and Comcast is one of the worst of them. I was in the same situation as you are a few months ago. I was paying about $160/month with no movie channels at all for cable and internet. I threatened to leave them for U-Verse, and told them how much they were quoting me. It took about 20 minutes, but they locked me into a year contract for $91 and change. With HBO as well. It sucks, but with these cable companies you really have to stay on them. They are scammers who will try to get away with as much as they can.

I don't want to voice my opinion here or hijack the thread, but a guy I work with just got a DCMA notice from Comcast. His kid torrented an HBO show the day after it aired.
what usenet forum do you suggest
I don't know why you are all using torrents (which are obviously easy to track) when a subscription to a Usenet forum service is anonymous and faster. (no need to wait for peers)![]()
I don't know why anyone downloads at all when you can stream....all from the comfort of your couch and without having to use a computer or wait for it to download. The concept of needing have even a digital copy of media is becoming a thing of the past, IMHO.
I hear you but some things you/some might want to get aren't available by the corporations that spoon feed the streams.
There are obvious pros to having the tangible file. (watching on an airplane that doesnt have wifi for example or getting a full quality file with HD 1080p stream and lossless audio that I can choose to down mix vs. a third party deciding what quality I get)
We could go back and forth but I'll take anonymous downloads and tangible files vs. hoping Netflix or whatever has <insert want/need> available when I want it.
