Found one today that has what I would be ordering if I purchase brand new. Is there any reason why I should go new and not refurb'd? Also, when buying refurb'd can you up the RAM before it ships or does it "ship as is"?

No customization, it ships with the minimum speccs as listed. On occasion, people have gotten lucky "extras" (like a larger capacity HDD, or more RAM) in their refurb machines, but that does not mean it's a sure thing.

That said, if you're buying from Apple itself, then there isn't a particularly compelling reason not to buy refurbished products-- they call carry the same standard 1-year warranty. :)

Thank you sir. Also, ONE more Q :D

I have a Circuit City card and right now on all MAC products $599 and up you get 6mos no interest and no payments. I am assuming when you order a MAC from CC site, it's the same process as ordering from mac site IE: still get student discount etc.. no?

Nope. Education discount only works via Apple Stores (online or B&M-- brick and mortar) or your campus store. Other resellers can't offer the edu. discount.

And BTW, if you glance at the title under my username, you can see that I'm not a sir. ;)

The student discount is offered from Apple and is only avalible through Apple, either via apple.com or an Apple store.

When you look at the refurb page, look for the boldfaced specs. That indicates an upgraded spec from what that part number originally shipped with.
