The max font size (and type) of desktop font, menu bar font, and right click menu font?

It's just a few tweaks.

It's either accessibility setting for the near blind or set in stone font sizes for those with less than perfect vision?

We are not talking about resolution independence here, just a few settings...

I have hint why they wouldn't be doing that, but I really don't want to believe is since that would make me very angry with them, and I am already angry with the various tricks they pull on us users (forced obsolecence of very recent macs, lack of real development (as opposed to joke development) for osx, disregard for environmental standards, collusion deals making ebooks extra expensive, custom ports for non upgradeable components on pro notebooks, updates of the mac pro with no usb3 in 2012, etc. etc.):

My idea is that they want to push retina displays, aka outside of the apple distortion field as higher pixel density displays), that will allow via even better hardware some ui enlargement with no blurring (but lot's of lag it seems so far...).

Could it be that apple is not implementing a few simple ui improvements because they want to force people to buy their latest?

Could they be so shameless?

I am afraid to say, I think they could...:(

Unless you honestly think they were planning RD Macs since 2001, no, I don't think it has anything to do with what you're saying.

Apple has always been limiting of customization, and limiting of preferences, even sometimes for requested features. It's simply that they value simplicity. They want you, by and large, to be able to learn to use a Mac instantly, and once you do, be able to move to other Macs easily. The more customization they add, the more complex the preferences are, the less simple the UI.

Sometimes, I think they get this right. Others, I think they get this wrong. As an advanced user myself, I've always just relied on third party customization software (TinkerTool, Glims for Safari, TextExpander, Perian, etc) to fill in the gaps that most people don't need, but I find myself craving.

Have you submitted feature requests to Apple about this? Because frankly, I think that's the best way to get this option put in, is to convince them it would be helpful to enough people that it would be worth the effort. Submit requests. Ask other people who want it to submit requests. See how it goes.
