Hey!

Is there any reason why I shouldn't be storing photos on HEIC format? I just apple ecosystem stuff and everything is already compatible. I'm even thinking to convert previous photos to HEIC and save space.

I'm just wondering if there any caveat I can't see. My idea is use photos to store all my photos and of course if I need a photo outside there just export to a jpeg or whatever.

the only reason not to is jpeg is accepted everywhere if you need to share images plus no one really knows what the next generally accepted format is going to be, only time. I personally have all my phone pics as HEIC and hope the Format becomes a standard format. Not sure that will happen until Browsers recognize it, though. I don't believe Safari recognizes HEIC images

FWIW - been using HEIC since it started and have my phone setting set to "Keep Originals" so they stay that way when transferring to Photos (and deleting from phone) - works fine

Like you said - it easy to export a jpg or even take a screen shot if you don't want to share the meta data (location, date etc.) with the recipient

I really don't care if browsers really recognize them or not. I want to store the info and manage them not put them on internet.
I don't know… from the side of efficiency I really think it's a good format.
