This wasn't possible in iOS 11, alarms could only play a single, Apple-provided alarm sound. Seem like this capability should have been present on the original HomePod release and if it is still missing then something is seriously wrong with the HomePod development team (IMO). Well, they did add multiple timers (finally), but why can't you play music to wake you in the morning?
"Hey Siri, start playlist 'Morning Music' at 7am."
Seems like there should be a way to do this with the new Shortcuts feature, but who really knows?
I've already submitted feature requests to Apple for this (twice, once very early after the initial release of the HomePod and now again under iOS 12).
