I'm sick of getting locked out of Safari every time I want to stream some audio from a specific URL. Is there any app that'll let me input a URL and stream the audio in the background while I use Safari for other things? Obviously an alternate browser would be able to do this but I haven't been able to find one that has been updated for the 4.0 APIs.

I've been using HiDef Radio to listen to streaming radio. It allows you to add your own URL. That might work.

That doesn't seem to work in the background. It's version of "backgrounding" appears to be just sending the stream to Safari.

WunderRadio?

Btw does wunderradio have a recorder? Bit disappointing if it doesn't since it's not cheap comparatively.

To the op:another way would be to just save the stream locally via some app, and play it on the iPod, although if feasible this is much more cumbersome.

Do any of these apps do background audio/ They all just seem to do the Safari workaround.

It doesn't. I haven't even looked at other apps like it since I bought it way way back when there were fewer apps.

Also WunderRadio does have background support.
