I saw the timecapsule option with the time machine backup. The capsule has been discontinued for like forever, so is there any way to make wireless backups nowadays? I don’t mean third party software which obviously works, but with the time machine software

Time Machine on the Mac is simply a client that looked for Time Capsule or asks if want to use a new disk that attach for backups.

Pretty much all NAS vendors have option for acting as a Time Capsule and appearing over the network to the Time Machine software on the Mac.

That network can be wired or wireless.

You could also use an old Mac for this, I re-purposed my 2012 Mini as a Time Machine destination and file server when I upgraded to a new Mini. I am running Catalina on the 2012 Mini, but Apple added this capability starting with High Sierra.

Setting it up is easy, but not obvious - I had to Google this article to figure out how I did it!
