Apple recommends putting the notebooks on a hard flat surface. This is so the little nubs can keep the bottom of the computer off the surface and allow air thus keeping it cooler. With soft stuff it will sink in. As long as the book is bigger than the MacBook I think this is fine as long as you don't mind the book getting slightly warm.

Any hard surface will do, well, try to avoid using midgets heads. Seriously though, just avoid putting it on your bed, carpet or anything that will prevent the heat from leaving your MB. A friend of mine used to pass out with his iBook on his bed and it'd fry in the sheets all night running torrents, acquisition etc... Eventually his iBook failed and he was like, "I can't beleive it's not working..." Duh! There are also many more affordable alternatives to the overpriced icurve so do shop around. cheers, Tom
