HI
I have a MacBook Pro that is mine but as I used it for work and worked in a large corporation with strict GDPR rules, the MacBook had to be set up by the IT team and as such has MDM profiles on it. I have left this corporation now and despite many requests, the likelihood of them removing the profile for me in a timely fashion is remote as they have said they will need the macbook for at least 3 months and I do not have option to give it to them for that long.
Does anyone know if there is ANYWAY I can get the profiles off at all?

Thanks

These profiles phone home so there are ways to remove it but they'll also know you removed it unless you never let it connect to the internet again.

I had a bring your own MBP that work installed some security certs on so I could use it at the office. they allow BYO but in doing so, I was suddenly in the JAMF system. I followed an online guide on how to remove it after I copied my security keys that put in keychain access..put those in iCloud, removed JAMF and it took me off their system. Ever since, I just BYO a new computer and install those keys manually and haven't had an issue.

The MDM registers the machine serial number. The MDM is pushing the profile to the serial number on the machine. It needs to be removed from their MDM and likely would need to be released from Apple Business Manager or School Manager, so it would quit requesting enrollment.

If the machine is yours, then it shouldnt be in Apple Business Manager (provided your former employer was a Jamf customer). Depending on how the profile is configured, you may not be able to remove it. An erase and re-install would definitely clear it, and like I said, if its a machine you bought and paid for and enrolled manually to your employers MDM service, then Remote Management will not start during system set up.

They must have said "three months" so that you wouldn't bother them with it.

The lesson I've learned here is: Don't enroll a personal device into a company MDM unless you can afford to throw it away.

If it was "yours", why would you ever let them install MDM?

I think you are utilizing a company owned device that you happen to have possession of and neglected to return upon leaving company
