Is there anyway to run .exe files?

There are a ton of different "Windows-only" files I'd like (and need, in some cases) to use, but can't (for obvious reasons). Anyway, I was wonder if there are any free programs that allow you to run .exe files (maybe an XP emulator?) or any other way to open these kinds of files. Thanks for any help :)

you would need an emulator like virtual PC. These aren't just files, they are windows programs. Virtual PC would be the best, but its far from free. You might check out versiontracker.com to see if there are any other emulators available, but I doubt you'll find any that are all that useable, and legally, they'd all require a valid copy of windows, which would cost money. I suppose you might be able to use an emulator, install linux and use WINE, but I don't know how effective that would be.
 
Eh... that sucks. :( I was looking at Virtual PC until I found it's $200+ price tag. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, and my expierence with Virtual PC was not good... First tried running it on a G3 iBook (snow).that was a bad idea. However, I haven't tried running it on my PowerBook or Mac Mini.

My experience with Virtual PC on my PowerBook G4 1.33 GHz has been pretty good. It works fine for fairly simple programs, which are the only kind I need on Windows.
 
If you happen to have a copy of Windows, just not a PC to run it on, you can download QemuX for free and use that.
