Is there App that will tell me if my battery is bad?

I’ve lately been having horrible battery life and also it’s behaving sporadically. I’ll have 65 percent then all of a sudden my phone will die. I already restored from new, turned off background refresh data, notifications etc it’s still doing it.

My phone is on the old side being an iPhone 6 but it’s crazy because I had an iPhone 5 that I gave to somebody and theirs is still kicking with better battery life than mine.

Can I download something to check my battery or do I have to take it into apple? What’s the repair cost for a new battery and y’all think it’s worth it?

As far as I know, there is no iOS app that will give you that level of information (unless you jailbreak). However, you can install programs like coconutBattery (for MacOS) or 3uTools (for Windows) that will tell you how your battery compares to it's theoretical design capacity. Here's a screenshot for reference.

If your battery is below 70% of its design capacity, then it will need to be changed. Anything lower than 50-60% will usually struggle to maintain power to the device and it will fluctuate like you are describing.

Thanks for info thats what I was looking for. I downloaded CoconutBattery and heres what it shows, it looks like it's in very bad shape right at 15 percent? Sheesh also the cycle count at over 1k seems like a crap load.

Yeah, 15% is as bad as I have seen (other than a truly dead battery). You can get very good quality replacement batteries at iFixit.

Nice price for sure and seems pretty straight forward. Still a little scared I’d muck something up.

Is it generally a pretty easy repair? Watched a couple videos guess the biggest worries are breaking the top tab and putting the long screw in the wrong hole (somebody damaged their motherboard yikes). You don’t have to worry about getting dust under your screens right since it’s enclosed?
