Hey guys...pretty new to these forums but have been reading on here for a while now! Just wanted to know...ive heard all about these macbook updates and the rumours of a Oct 26th update with leopard seem to have come out of nowhere  could someone please clarify if there is an apple related keynote/event thing happening on Oct 26th for them to even announce these rumored updates?

To clarify, Apple have confirmed that Lepoard will be release on the 26th. However that doesn't mean that if you purchase a apple product that it will be installed from day one. When Tiger was released I purchased my first mac being a mini and that had Tiger & the previous operating systems inside the box.

So, yes 26th is the day for Lepoard.

Also here in the UK we have Macworld kicking off. Although I have not seen many people mention this, but maybe Apple would like to annouce something new at that expo. I don't know but it would be a nice thought. Additionally although there have been many rumors about a new 13" laptop, Apple could just wait until Jan08, it has nothing to loose and it keeps the hype going!

Hope this helps.

Since you're new, you should be told that there are always rumors and most of them come out of nowhere. Events need to be announced in advance in order to allow the press to make arrangements to be there (also to allow for wild speculation worth millions in free publicity).

Time is getting short for this. Apple likes to string out introductions, so as to string out the free publicity. My guess is that there will be no special event on the 26th.
