I did post this on the Apple support forums but I've had no replies, so I thought I might try my luck here!
My mum recently bought me a game for Christmas which I asked for, which I thought, because it was designed for Mac, would work on my MBP.
However, when I tried to install it, for some reason it just wouldn't allow me to, and I couldn't work out why until I discovered that Apple have, for some reason, taken away the ability to use PowerPC Apps on OS X Lion and Mountain Lion, which unfortunately this game falls into the category of.
So, apart from nearly killing my MBP by trying to create a partition in my hard drive to install Snow Leopard on (which I still have the install disk of from my old MBP which was stolen earlier this year) to run it off, which didn't work anyway because Apple appear to have closed any loopholes which should allow you to install older OS, my mum has wasted the best part of £50 on this game which I simply can't use.
I've also installed a virtual machine on my MBP in an attempt to install Snow Leopard on that, which doesn't appear to be working either. I've tried installing Rosetta as well but to be honest it doesn't seem to be making any difference.
Either way, I feel like I'm going round in circles here and basically I'd like to know whether Apple (or anybody else!) will ever introduce a way of being able to install PowerPC Apps on current and new OS? Also, if anyone HAS figured out a way to do it already, please enlighten me!
And if not, please let me know so I can tell my mum to send this game back so she hasn't completely wasted her money.
Thanks!
