All I want is an iMac with target display mode so I can connect my work Dell computer to it. Since that is probably never going to happen again I need an external monitor and there is no way I'm paying $5,000 for the XDR so I can do Word processing and browse Macrumors.com.

It so happens that I am in the market for a new monitor. I currently run an Acer 27" 1440p (on an MBA M1) but want to upgrade to 4k (anywhere between 27-32 inches or so). I have been looking at a number of monitors but, frankly, most of them are ugly as sin. I want something stylish like a Mac product, or at least close to that. In fact I would already be happy with a monitor with an ultra-thin bezel and a stand that does not scream "I'm a hardcore gamer". Ideally less than $1,000.

Is there even one good-looking monitor available to buy in 2021?

Look at Dell (of all places). I've been buying monitors from them for decades. They reliably have high quality panels, minimal bezels, and minimal branding, at competitive prices. They're still plastic but they're basically non-offensive.

+1 Dell - they have great pricing, sales, and support.

I picked up a 27" Alienware display for my gaming setup (Flight Simulator) with 1ms and 240Hz support - it works great and is very easy on the eyes.

ALIENWARE 27 GAMING MONITOR - AW2720HF

Didn't hurt when Dell had 15% off plus Amex Plat had $50 back so the price dropped to $250.
