Is there such a thing as an I phone lemon?

I have had my i phone for several weeks and it is dismal as a phone. I have never had a conversation beyond 2 minutes without it dropping the call--sometimes it will drop the same call 5 or 6 times. I rarely rings--I mostly see calls on the great display and call back. It turns itself off from time to time and it is a minute or two before I can get it turned back on. And there is often static or an echo on the "line". I had AT&T before and it worked fine--this is really annoying-- particularly doing business calls. I am in Washington D.C which should have good coverage. What do I do?

If I were you, I'd go visit my local Apple store and describe the issues to them.
