Is Things a good substitute for Notes?

as a former palm pda user, i miss not being able to organize notes and to sync them w/my mac. Does Things allow you to organize notes into categories and then have "subnotes".

Is there a "search" feature?

I need to be able to review my notes when i don't have wifi connection on my itouch.

I heard that docs to go will be available this year for the mac. It was a great way to sync word docs on the palm.

Momo, Notebook (singular), Rainbow Notes, and Notespark sync with online services (all free), and you can access those notes via Internet from any comp.

Notebooks (plural), and WriteRoom are accessible on computers via Wi-fi (bonjour).

All are accessible offline on the iTouch.

Things is a task manager, built for To-do stuff, not exactly built for Notes.

There's also a link in there to the Google Docs spreadsheet we put together with a comparison of the features of the different apps (the ones we were aware of...) that may be of some use. Almost everything though has the ability to view the documents offline, many will just sync up with whatever medium they use when they have a suitable connection (assuming you don't have to initiate the connection manually).

NoteMaster is another one to consider if organizing into groups and subgroups is a priority. For now the only way to get notes to your computer is to email them from the device, but backup solution is in the works, according to the developer.

Evernote would be awesome if it allowed noteviewing before syncing to their service. Syncing takes battery life and makes notes inaccessible till I get Internet service again.

I don't mind spending $5 for an app that doesn't use more battery life than necessary, and so I've settled on Momo as my note taking app.

any comments about syncbook? it was mentioned in another conversation.

I have NoteMaster, and it looks really sharp. I like the ability to put headers into the body of the note, as well as pictures. You can also organize notes by category, and search within the body of the note. It just looks good!
Unfortunately the only way to get the notes into you computer is to email them to yourself. But the developer promised to work on an easier way to sync them, and I am looking forward to that...
