I have had my apple tv for nearly a week. I love all the features, especially airplay. I was very surprised by video quality of airplay but even more so by the audio quality. I am constantly air playing spotify from my iphone to my tv which in turn puts it through my home theater and the sound is great. However, not all is good. Within this first week, I have already encountered the same problem three times. I get stuck on a screen which just lists "computers" and "settings." Restarting seems to fix the problem, however its not something I plan on doing constantly. Is there a known fix to this problem? I really doubt its my network as I am running my macbook air, iPhone and iPad on it, all wirelessly like apple tv. They all work with no problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That usually indicates the Apple TV doesn't have access to the internet.

Are are you using ethernet or wifi? If ethernet is an option, give that a try.

Yea, they are both an option. Will airplay still function if I hook up Apple TV via ethernet?

Problem

I usually get that screen when my internet connection drops out for a moment or 2. (faulty cable modem)
AppleTV will not work without an internet connection(even if you still have a local connection)

I get that screen when my MBP goes to sleep on the other hand...

You lose access to Netflix and the other internet based apps on your AppleTV when your MBP goes to sleep? Do you have your laptop setup as an ethernet bridge?
