Yes, it is. I am also on Appleseed and it is Apple's private beta testing group for Lion and future OS releases. This is not for developers.

People here think that Apple releases beta of their products only to developers. The Appleseed group has existed for years...

Oh OK, never heard of it that's why I asked. I thought pre-release stuff was only available to devs. Is it a good program to sign up for?

If you are prepared to install prerelease software and test it, post bug reports and generally do what is expected from a beta tester, then yes! If not, then leave it.

If you really want to do it, then cough up the $$ to join apple's developer connection. You generally get pre-release updates for testing.
