Those that don't want to click on it:

External Hard Drive:
Fantom Drive 500 GB -7200 RPM USB 2.0 Force MegaDisk = $199

What do you think is that a good deal? Or is it cheaper for me to buy an external multiple drive holder and buy internal drives?

I think there was a 320 GB for $99 after rebates... i can only find this one now

Outpost.com has the Acomdata 250GB E5 USB 2.0 External Hard Drive for $130 - $40 rebate [Exp 6/15] = $90 with free shipping.

depends on how much space you need.

If I were you I would purchase one that has firewire as well. Better yet if you get or have a mac that has firewire 800 then this will give you fast transfers. I have a FW 800 and it's extremely fast.

Buy an external enclosure that holds two drives then buy the hard drives separately when you find good deals.

This is just my opinion though...

Edit:
Here are a few links for example. Or you can go with single enclosures...

Single enclosure w/ FW 400 & USB2. I've heard this is a great enclosure...

Awesome thanks! and Yeah i'm getting a Macbook Pro 17" when I get the money, but I haven't had a computer before that has had fire wire or USB 2.0 so I wasn't sure which one transfered faster.

Technically USB 2 is faster than FW 400. However USB 2 does not sustain the constant transfer speed that FW does. If you get the 17" MBP like you said I would go with FW 800, you won't be disappointed. Also you can use the FW 800 on a FW 400 port using the correct cable adapter (you probably already knew this though).

You can also find FW 800 single drive enclosures but by the time you buy two you might as well just bought the dual enclosure. I think single FW 800 drive usually run about ~$70 or so.

Anyways best of luck deciding what to go with.

Edit: Firewire vs. USB 2 (quick google search)
