I don't know if I'd say "good", I'd say "fair."

It sounds like pretty much the right price for the unit described to me - if you need the monitor.

Otherwise, depending on what you need it for, there are a lot of low-end G5 Dual Powermacs going for $1000ish on eBay.

My belief, if you're using it for pro-grade stuff, is that you'd be better off going with a new iMac or even a Mac Pro. In general, for professional-grade work, the G4 is going to die with Leopard.

Basically, I suspect, a G4 will run Leopard about as well as a G3 will run Tiger.

I would be using it for audio, light gaming(WoW), and web browsing, nothing heavy. I would love a dual G5 but wouldn't have enough cash for that and a 23" lcd.

i don't like this setup. it's too outdated. who knows how many future versions of OSX will even run on it?

i'd spring for a newer machine and save up for a newer display.

if you're still gonna go for it at least take comfort in the fact that the prices sound reasonable.

$900 seems like a good price for this setup. But personally, I would go for either a used Power Mac G5 or one of the new iMacs. :)

i agree....the price is fair, but if i were you i would make do with a cheaper display and get a better machine, cause that 4 year old machine will probably only make you happy for a little while before you are frustrated. :) .....if anything find a used powermac g5

I'm back! :D I decided to go with a iMac 17-inch Intel Core Duo with SuperDrive. I just need one more question answered. The iPod promotion F.A.Q. states this *This offer is available only on purchases of new product*, but the Apple store does not have this model iMac new, it's only listed in the refurbished store. Would buying a refurbished iMac qualify me for a free iPod?

From F.A.Q.

What are the qualifying Mac and iPods?
